Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin

1. a large rounded orange-yellow fruit with a thick rind, edible flesh, and many seeds.
    • informal used as an affectionate term of address, especially to
    •  a child.
  1. 2.
the plant of the gourd family that produces the pumpkin, having tendrils and large lobed leaves and native to warm regions of America.

      Pie
A baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, typically with a top and base of pastry.

"the enticing aroma of fresh-baked pies"
  • a pizza.

My Grandma and my Mimi's pumpkin pie recipe.

My grandma was very influential in my learning to bake, she told me she remembers a little three year old standing on a chair, mixing cookie dough by hand and making a mess. This three year old was me. Now I will be seventeen in 23 days, I still love cookie dough, mixing with my hands, and I usually make a mess when baking. However, now I only need a chair to get things down from the cupboard.

Butter filled pastry

Somehow I ended up with not very many pictures of making pumpkin pie probably because my pup need something and I am forgetful. But at least I took some pictures. Also in my family we always cook down heirloom pumpkins and puree it ourselves for our pumpkin pies, we don't do canned pumpkin. It's truly from scratch.

The top of the pie crust got a little dark but the rest was good and tasty. I also made pumpkin dinner rolls, they were yummy.

Weaver and Winslow

Little feet, big smiles, and loads of giggles.

So beautiful are the Christmas tree lights and ornaments in the warmth of  a home.

Table set for a Christmas tea.

Grandma's classic sugar cookies

Tea Time

                          DIY peppermint sugar scrub
Two cups of white granulated sugar, mixed with a 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup coconut oil. Add the oil slowly till you have a nice soft consistency.  Then add a few drops of peppermint essential oil and red food coloring.

Use the same recipe for the white sugar scrub just don't add food coloring.

Lightly pack scrub into mason jelly jars while alternating colors.

We had enough sugar scrub to fill five jars.

Label creatively!

Use the scrub yourself or give as a little homemade Christmas gift.

This peppermint scrub is great to use in the shower on your legs or to wash your dry hands with.

Weaver took great joy in picking out who got each jar, it was very cute!

It was a lovely Christmas Tea.
