oatmeal bread
makes 2 loaves oven temp 350 30-40 min. or for rolls 20-25 min. combine in large bowl: 1 cup quick oats, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 T salt, 2 T olive oil pour over: 2 cups boiling water, stir in to combine. dissolve: 1 pkg. dry yeast or 2 1/4 tsp from a jar of dry yeast, in 1/2 cup of warm water. when batter is lukewarm, add yeast. stir in: 5 cups white flour. when dough is stiff enough to handle, turn onto floured board and knead for 5-10 minutes. place in greased bowl, cover with damp cloth, and let rise until doubled. punch down and let rise again. shape into 2 loaves or desired rolls size, and place in greased 9x5x3" pans or cookie sheet for rolls. bake 350 for 30-40 or for rolls 20-25. enjoy!!!! |
